Calamagratis 'Avalanche'
Similar clumping habit as Karl Foerster, but with a wide white band down the center of each leaf blade. Topped with silvery-tan plumes starting in mid-summer. Sun to part shade. H 4' x W 3-4'

Gracefully arching golden foliage with prominent dark green margins. Prefers full sun and ample moisture. H 12" x W 18"

Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance'
Compact tufts of ˝" dark green leaves with clear white borders. Nice addition to mixed borders, rock gardens and edgings. Do not plant in the fall. Part shade to shade H 12"

Deschampsia caespitosa (Tufted Hair Grass)
Tufted hair grass is clump-forming, cool season grass which is often grown as an ornamental. It typically forms a low, dense tussock (to 16" tall) of very thin (1/5" wide), arching, flat to inrolled, dark green grass blades (to 2' long). Numerous flower stems rise in summer from the foliage mound to a height of 3' bearing wide, airy panicles (to 20" long) of tiny, variably-colored flowers (tones of gold, silver, purple and green) which form a cloud over the foliage that is particularly attractive when backlit. Flower panicles turn yellowish-tan after bloom as the seed ripens and may remain attractive through much of the winter. Common name is in obvious reference to the hair-like grass blades which grow in tufts. Zone 4

Miscanthus sinensis 'Autumn Red' (purpurescens)
Bright silky white plumes in early summer. Grass turns into a blaze of red color by the end of the summer. Very hardy. Full sun. H 3' x W 2'

Miscanthus sinensis 'Gold Bar'
Leaf blades feature strong horizontal yellow and green bands. Burgundy flower plumes Aug-Sept. Full sun to light shade. H 3-4' x W 3-4'

Narrow leaf Maiden grass. One of the nicest selections of Miscanthus with elegant silvery foliage. H 4' x W 6'

Miscanthus sinensis 'Silver Feather'
Upright arching form reaching 60" tall x 60" wide. Medium green foliage with silver midrib turns gold in fall. Silver plumes are held 2-3' above the foliage. Full sun. zone 4

Panicum 'Northwind'
This panicum is erect and rather stiff, does not flop over as some do. Yellow flower plumes and foliage turn a golden yellow in fall. Full sun H 60-70" x W 30" One of the best!

Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Little Bunny'
'Little Bunny' is the smallest of the dwarf fountain grasses. It is particularly at home in a rock garden setting or on a slope with other mat-forming or small perennials. 1 - 1.5 ft., Full sun to part shade, Zone 5
